Rollerblading across the World

RollerBlading is the ultimate after a long day
of coding. If you haven't tried it, go down
to K-mart and get your self a pair of blades.
You can get a pair for like $40 or so.

I spent like $400 on mine but you should probably
make sure that you like the sport first. My blades
come with ABEC-5 Bearings which are just about the best
available. For $40, you will get ABEC-1's which are
probably good for a starter. They keep you going
slower so you don't kill yourself.

Here is a picture of my blades:

I have tried a bunch of skates out and I have found
that only Rollerblade brand feel good. You can try
them out for yourself but the off-brands seemed uncomfortable
to me. If they don't feel bad for you, you could save a
little cash buying these.

Another thing to think about, is the size of your wheels.
The bigger the better. I think my 77mm is pretty good but
I will most likely upgrade to 80 or so soon enough.

I, personally, use my blades to get to work everyday. (about
a mile or two) My car gets very little use until the weekend.
We did have a lot of rain this winter which sort of eliminates
the rollerblading idea.

Also, there are many groups for bladers. There should
be some in your area. I try to go to stanford university
every wednesday night for the big get together. Like 50 to
100 people go every week and take over the campus and
streets of Palo Alto.

If you want to go blading sometime, let me know.
